artistic situation,
audiovisual work

The video-work Lourdes - Lourdes is a result of an intense collaboration with the artist, writer and performer Elias De Brauw.

The aim of the organization Wit(h) is to set-up co-creations between professional artists and artist being disabled. Karel and Elias share there interest in a cross-over way of working with an urge of social interaction.

Elias did write a book, a kind of small poetical, political pamflet on 'how to make the world a better place'. This book was already performed by the artistic duo at Art et Marge Museum in Brussels (2017). Now the book was the trigger to make a trip from Lourdes (Oostakker - Belgium) to Lourdes in France. Both artists share there roots in Lourdes Belgium, Verhoeven was raised as a Catholic child under the tower of the basilica of Lourdes, Elias lived in the same area. Together they returned to there roots, going on residency at the monastery, from there a road-trip moved them to Lourdes in France. On a way to other believers.
